Cat Pits

So the other day I walked home in the rain and was feeling a little blue until I arrived home and was greeted by the most wonderful surprise: The January 2013 issue of Broken Pencil was sticking out of my mailbox. I immediately flipped through until I found the pages that displayed the excerpts of my new graphic-novel-zine, Cat Pits!

Photos of Horses

While in Prince Edward Island, Bryan and I came across an abandoned house and decided to venture inside. Lying on top of an old desk and under a rusty lamp were these faded but lovely horse themed photographs. Of all the houses we've explored, this collection is my favourite find yet.

CAT PITS

Hello. I am back to the blogging world and I wanted to introduce you all to my latest project, a graphic-novel-zine entitled: Cat Pits. Having originated from memories of being bullied in school, Cat Pits is a psychedelic and fantastical tale of a young girl named Merryweather who has to grow up with cats in her armpits. In part one, after feeling outcasted and defeated, Merryweather is about to take matters into her own hands when her feline pits talk to her and lead her on a magical journey through time.

I have exhibited and sold Cat Pits at Canzine 2012 and an exceprt from it has been published in the January, 2013 issue of Broken Pencil. I am honoured that BP asked if they could publish sections and their support means the world to me. Thank you!

I would also like to take this opportunity to share some of the pages from Cat Pits with you. I am currently working on part 2 which will be a full colour edition.  In addition, if you would like a copy of Cat Pits please email me at lisforwilson@gmail.com and I will mail you a copy, for free!  Hopefully a few retail locations will start carrying it but for now I will gladly mail it to you, no matter where you live.

I hope you enjoy it!

Hello

Hello everyone. I wanted to take a moment and apologize for not updating my blog lately. I know it's been a while but the last two months have been a bit of whirlwind. For a while I was juggling three jobs, working 6-7 days a week, spent a month believing my dad had lung cancer because of a misdiagnosis and helped a close family member through some tough emotional issues. I'm not one for excuses but the last little while has been difficult for me, to say the least.

The good news is, is that I'm down to 1 1/2 jobs (which I love, by the way), my dad is cancer free, my family member is on the road to recovery and I have a free weekend coming up! This brings me to my ultimate point which is to tell you that I will not only be updating my blog with my recent work but will also be sharing a sneak peek of Cat Pits Part 2 in the upcoming weeks! For those of you who haven't heard of my new graphic novel zine entitled Cat Pits, stay tuned because I will be sharing an introduction as well.

Stay with me people, I am on my way back!

Photos of Dad

My dad sent me two more photos of him from when he was a kid in Inverness, Scotland. I've been studying both of them but I can't decide which one he is. I really love receiving these as they are all so charming and whimsical to me.
